One of the most sublime views in Costa Rica from this magnificent mountaintop farm
- Land: 21.5 hectares (54 acres)
If you're looking for the ultimate mountain view lot for your Eco-retreat or dream home you won't find better than this. The views from this property will literally take your breath away.
Perched on a commanding hilltop with a fabulous panorama over the stunning Reventazon Valley this outstanding property offers spectacular old growth forest as well as open ranch land.
The sun sets behind Turrialba Volcano which towers to the west, while on the opposite side of the property there are endless views stretching all the way down to the Caribbean. The vistas are so awesome and all-encompassing that it makes the perfect location for an eco-retreat or a top-of-the-world dream home.
The forests are a haven for a dazzling variety of wildlife. The abundance of toucans, oropendolas and the highly endangered green macaw make this a bird-watcher's paradise.
This property is a vital component of the Barbilla-Destierro Biological Corridor, which is Costa Rica’s most important jaguar migration route. Jaguars and many other endangered species use this corridor in order to cross the Reventazon Valley. Eye-witness accounts of jaguar and ocelot passing right through the farm, as well as jaguar footprints found here recently, both testify to its crucial role as a feline pathway.
The property is a priority for conservation and requires a low impact development in harmony with nature by an environmental steward who is willing to preserve it. If you want to make a positive contribution to protecting Costa Rica’s biodiversity and help save the jaguar at the same time, this is your chance.
We can help you secure the funding, the volunteers and the technical expertise necessary to implement a reforestation program to restore this amazing piece of land to its former glory, repairing the biological corridor in the process. Funding for reforestation is available through the Government’s FONAFIFO program, and this same program can also provide funds as a reward for protecting the property's 25 acres of forest.
The lower section of the property has 10 acres of pasture that are well suited to cacao. We can assist and advise you in the implementation of a sustainable mixed plantation of cacao, along with a variety of other fruit trees, which can not only serve as a healthy habitat for wildlife but also provide a financial return if required.
The property has two springs that are abundant sources of water, and there is an electricity line that runs right past it.
It’s 5 minutes drive from the main highway along an unpaved road in good condition. The unpaved road leads to nowhere so there is no passing traffic. A small convenience store and a local bar and restaurant are just minutes away. It’s a 20 minute drive to the nearest market town of Siquirres and 40 minutes to the bustling tourist hub of Turrialba.
Situated halfway between San Jose and the Caribbean Coast the Reventazon region is exceptionally well suited to wildlife and conservation activities. It is literally surrounded by national parks and reserves, including Barbilla National Park, Guayabo National Park, Turrialba Volcano National Park, Tapanti National Park, Rio Macho Forest Reserve, and the Pacuare Forest Reserve. The nearby Pacuare River, just minutes away in the adjacent valley is a pristine natural wonderland with the best white-water rafting in Central America. Beyond the local town of Siquirres are the boundless wonders of the Caribbean, including the world-renown biodiversity hotspot Tortuguero National Park.
If you are looking for a worthy conservation project in a place of outstanding beauty, then this is your dream come true.
